The top is ink stamped ‘Pansard B????’.

The chest would have been crafted by the estate carpenter, honestly and carefully made, and showing his initials in studwork to the drawer, ‘BP’. Provincial furniture was made in the provinces or rural districts, typically in England and France and also rural districts of Italy and holds a rural, country or farmhouse flavour, typically less flamboyant than fast changing fine furniture trends initiated in royal courts over past centuries.

Rare to find in this highly original and unrestored condition, we cannot stress how much we love this.
