There is some loss to the frame.

The composition has a sense of Pierre-Auguste Renoir's 1881 picture 'Bouquet of Chrysanthemums' about it in terms of the palette used and it may have provided an inspiration to this work. The use of the dark background was a common trend used by still life artists that only really changed with the likes of Monet's works and Van Gogh's Sunflowers in 1888.

An attractive and decorative picture illustrating the simple balance and beauty of inanimate objects.

https://doeandhope.shop/products/a-charming-late-19thc-nave-school-oil-on-canvas-still-life-of-flowers-acb9
